Public Enemy’s music has appeared in many films over the last thirty years, ranging from everything from Spike Lee’s influential treatise on racism in America Do The Right Thing to last summer’s big budget sci-fi blockbuster Star Trek Beyond. Chuck D will discuss his experience with creating songs for film soundtracks on Tom Needham’s long running The Sounds of Film radio show.

For over twenty-nine years, The Sounds of Film radio show has covered the art of scoring and creating soundtracks for film. In the nearly three decades that the show has been on, it’s hosted a who’s-who of cultural icons as guests, including Billy Joel, Morris Day, Cornel West, Nile Rodgers, Kurtis Blow, and countless others.

Now Chuck D and Grammy Award winner and fellow hip hop legend Big Daddy Kane will appear on the show to discuss their careers, their music, and what it’s like to have a song appear on a major motion picture soundtrack. The two rappers will also be joined by film director Penelope Spheeris, best known for directing the hit Mike Meyers comedy Wayne’s World.

The Sounds of Film airs on Long Island radio station WUSB this Thursday at 6pm. Listeners outside of the Long Island area can also stream the station online via their website, http://www.wusb.fm
