Noah Baumbauch’s The Meyerowitz Stories’ Grace Van Patten and Composer Nathan Halpern on Tom Needham’s The Sounds of Film

The Meyerowitz Stories’ Grace Van Patton and Brooklyn composer Nathan Halpern are Tom Needham’s guests this Thursday on WUSB’s The Sounds of Film.


Actress Grace Van Patten and The Rider composer, Nathan Halpern, are Tom Needham’s special guests this week on Thursday at 6pm on WUSB’s The Sounds of Film.

Tom Needham met up with Grace Van Patten earlier this year at the Hamptons International Film Festival’s presentation of Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch. She spoke about Noah Baumbauch’s Netflix film, The Meyerowitz Stories starring Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson. The film, featuring an original score by Randy Newman, was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section and won the Palm Dog award at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. The movie is about a group of troubled siblings and their dysfunctional dad. Grace Van Patten plays Eliza who is a young experimental film student.

Nathan Halpern is a Brooklyn-based composer, who was recently named one of Indiewire’s ‘Composers to Watch.’ He is well-known for his score to the Emmy Award-winning Marina Abramovic: The Artist is Present. In recent years, he has gained international attention with scores for The Rider, which recently premiered at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, Netflix’s Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold, Rich Hill, a Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner, and One Percent More Humid, which was just featured at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival.

The Sounds of Film is the nation’s longest-running film and music themed radio show. For the past 30 years, the program has delivered a popular mix of interviews and music to listeners all over Long Island, parts of Connecticut and streaming worldwide live on the Internet at wusb.fm.
