Tom Needham’s The Sounds of Film will feature interviews with Rob Reiner, Julie Andrews, Alec Baldwin and Mayor Giuliani from the Hamptons IFF.
Tune into WUSB’s The Sounds of Film at 6pm this Thursday to hear Tom Needham’s exclusive interviews with Alec Baldwin, Julie Andrews, Rob Reiner and Mayor Giuliani about the Hamptons International Film Festival. In addition, the show will feature a special long-form interview with film composer Michael Brook.
The Sounds of Film will also be celebrating the films of Julie Andrews, Alec Baldwin and Rob Reiner by playing music from some of their most popular movies. Julie Andrews, who received the Hamptons International Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, is internationally adored for her music in films like The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Victor/Victoria. Director Rob Reiner, who was featured in the Hamptons International Film Festival’s Conversation With… Series, is known for his creative use of music in movies like This is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally and Stand By Me. Alec Baldwin, HIFF’s Co-Chair, has starred in many films featuring memorable soundtracks including The Cooler, The Departed and Beetlejuice.
The program is also going to present a spotlight on film composer Michael Brook’s work. Michael Brook is a popular guitarist, producer and composer who is known for his inventive scores to An Inconvenient Truth, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Brooklyn and Into the Wild. His latest score is for the film Stronger. The show will feature a career retrospective of his prolific motion picture scores.
The Sounds of Film is the nation’s longest-running film and music themed radio show. For the past 30 years, the program has delivered a popular mix of interviews and music to listeners all over Long Island, parts of Connecticut and streaming live on the Internet. Previous guests include Howard Shore, director Alexandra Pelosi, director Gillian Armstrong, Mayor David Dinkins, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Cicely Tyson, Don McLean, Wanda Jackson and Laurie Anderson.
