Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong will be joining Tom Needham to discuss the 40th Anniversary of ‘UP IN SMOKE,’ and their upcoming Paramount concert on Thursday’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’

Comedy legends, Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, will be Tom Needham’s exclusive guests this Thursday at 6pm on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’ They will be talking about Paramount’s 40th Anniversary DVD/Blu-Ray and the Deluxe Collector’s Edition of ‘UP IN SMOKE,’ which includes a DVD/Blu-Ray, CD and vinyl Soundtrack, 7 inch picture disc, and a movie poster. They will also be discussing their successful stand-up comedy career as they prepare for their upcoming performance at The Paramount in Huntington on Saturday, April 21st at 8 PM.

In 1978, Cheech and Chong made their feature film debut in ‘UP IN SMOKE,’ the hilarious classic inspired by their now legendary comedy routines of the early ‘70s. Following massive success with over 10 million comedy albums sold, four Grammy nominations and a win for Best Comedy Recording, Cheech and Chong became movie stars when ‘UP IN SMOKE’ became a smash hit, establishing the pair as the reigning comedy duo of a new generation. Today, the film still delivers big laughs and maintains its cultural relevance four decades after its original release.

In ‘UP IN SMOKE’ Cheech and Chong play wannabe musicians and stoners who unknowingly smuggle a van made of marijuana from Mexico to L.A. The humor follows when they unknowingly elude the police and make their way to an outrageous finale at the Roxy Theatre in Hollywood.

After the success of ‘UP IN SMOKE,’ Cheech and Chong went on to star in a series of films including ‘Cheech & Chong’s Next Movie,’ ‘Nice Dreams,’ ‘Things Are Tough All Over,’ ‘Still Smokin,’ ‘Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers,’ ‘Get Out of My Room,’ and ‘Cheech & Chong’s Animated Movie.’ In 2003, Tommy Chong was featured in the award-winning documentary, ‘a/k/a Tommy Chong,’ which told the story of Tommy’s arrest and prison sentence for trafficking in illegal drug paraphernalia.

WUSB will re-air Tom Needham’s interview with Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong on Friday, April 20th.
