Faith No More and Mr. Bungle’s Mike Patton Talks Film Music on Tom Needham’s The Sounds of Film

‘1922’ composer, Mike Patton, and model/filmmaker Hana Noka are Tom Needham’s exclusive guests this Thursday on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’


Film composer Mike Patton and filmmaker Hana Noka are Tom Needham’s special guests this Thursday on WUSB’s the ‘Sounds of Film.’

Renaissance man, Mike Patton, is best known for being the lead singer of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. Faith No More is a hugely successful band which blends heavy metal, funk, hip-hop and progressive rock. Some of their biggest hits include “Epic,” “Easy,” and “Midlife Crisis.” Patton’s Mr Bungle is another one of his popular bands which is more experimental and abstract in nature. In addition, Mike has played with John Zorn, Tomahawk, Fantômas, Dead Cross, Lovage, Peeping Tom and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

Patton is equally committed to his successful film scoring career. His latest soundtrack is for Netflix’s Steven King film ‘1922.’ Ipecac Recordings just released the ‘1922 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ on CD and vinyl. Patton has also done scores for the films ‘A Perfect Place,’ ‘Crank: High Voltage,’ and ‘The Place Beyond the Pines.’

Hana Noka is an international model, actress, media personality and filmmaker. Her film ‘HANA’ was just featured at the La Jolla International Fashion Festival, the world’s largest gathering of fashion filmmakers. The movie was nominated for three awards including Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Music.

The Sounds of Film is the nation’s longest running film and music themed radio show. For the past 30 years, the program has delivered a popular mix of interviews and music to listeners all over Long Island, parts of Connecticut and streaming live worldwide on the internet. Past people interviewed for the show include Gasland’s Josh Fox, writer Chris Hedges, Public Enemy’s Chuck D., Cowspiracy’s Kip Anderson, The Weather Underground’s Bill Ayers, Cheech and Chong, director Ernest Dickerson, Laurie Anderson and Michael Riesman.
